The Bloc
The Bloc is an open-air shopping center and green space located in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. This outdoor mall encompasses a full city block along DTLA's well-known 7th Street corridor and is just steps from the 7th Street Metro Center Station.
The trendy spot features a variety of restaurants, upscale shops, bars, and entertainment including a movie theater. This destination hosts an array of shops from larger department stores such as Macy’s and Nordstrom to smaller shops such as the children’s clothing boutique Eli & Ella Rose. There's also the beloved fitness and workout apparel fan favorite Lululemon.
After a long day of shopping, visitors can grab a bite to eat at one of the half dozen on-site eateries including Café Balzac, which is a gourmet coffee and pastry shop, or at District DTLA which offers fresh, natural, sustainable food and classic, custom made cocktails. For a longer stay, JOEY DTLA is an ideal sit-down restaurant for a date night out downtown or for a girlfriend’s gathering. JOEY transports diners to another era with its expansive theater kitchen, classy stone bar top and busting atmosphere. Its life-sized willow tree that adorns the restaurant’s interior was an art piece commissioned by Los Angeles local, America Martin.
Upstairs at The Bloc guests can also check out the sit-down destination HATCH, which is a modern izakaya style restaurant that honors the practice of creating authentic yakitori (a Japanese type of skewered chicken). This restaurant fuses together traditional Japanese cooking methods with fresh California flavors and offers a fantastic selection of sake, craft beer, wine and liquor personally chosen by an in-house sommelier.
The Bloc is an ideal home-base for exploring downtown LA and hosts an array of events year-round from holiday events, to live music, dance and theater performances, art exhibits, outdoor ļ¬tness classes, and a variety of food and drink tastings.
