The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture of the Riverside Art Museum
The recently unveiled Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture (commonly referred to as "The Cheech") is a public-private partnership between the Riverside Art Museum, the City of Riverside and comedian Cheech Marin -- who is one of the world’s leading collectors of Chicano art.
The Cheech stands as the center of Chicano art, not only for painting, but for sculpture, photography, and video arts in the region -- and acts as a catalyst for inspiring the expansion of the grassroots Riverside arts scene to encourage emerging Latino artists throughout the Inland Empire to share their talent.
Encompassing 61,420 square feet of space, this museum is easily reachable, located in Riverside’s downtown historic core in the cultural hub of Inland Southern California, adjacent to The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa.
At the museum, guests can explore a massive display showcasing hundreds of paintings, drawings, photographs and sculptures by artists including Patssi Valdez, Sandy Rodriguez, Carlos Almaraz, Frank Romero, Judithe Hernández and Gilbert “Magú” Luján among others. A significant portion of the collection will always be on display and will continue to be toured at external venues across the nation and throughout the world.
