Conejo Valley Botanic Garden
This 41-acre garden oasis is adjacent to Conejo Community Park in Thousand Oaks and consists of a peak with vista views and 15 hillside botanical gardens.
Explore the fruit trees, desert flora and fauna, native plants, Mediterranean plants and even a butterfly garden. There are a variety of hiking trails, which connect with other paths leading to overlook points offering sights from up on the hill.
Check out the Native Plant Garden and Native Meadow, which feature species native to California, including shrubs, flowers and trees. The Herb Garden showcases an impressive collection of aromatic, kitchen and medicinal herbs.
The Australian Garden features an extensive collection of species from Australia, including tree species such as Red Flowering Gum, Coolgardie gum, Illawarra Flame Tree, Rock Thryptomene and Australian silver oak.
There’s also a Trail of Trees, with 72 trees, including 50 different tree species. Each tree is labeled with its family, botanical and common names, country of origin and planting date.
It’s a great place to experience the relaxation and tranquility of nature, just steps from an urban setting. Walk along the “Nature Trail,” a one-mile loop featuring a wide range of plant life. Admission to the Garden is free.
