Buena Vista Audubon Society Nature Center
The Buena Vista Audubon Society Nature Center is located next to the Buena Vista Lagoon Ecological Reserve. Together, these two outdoor destinations are an excellent opportunity to enjoy and learn about nature.
The Center was built by a local chapter of the Audubon Society and hosts many events to educate visitors on local plant and animal life, such as butterfly migration or local raptor bird species.
The ecological reserve is a haven for avid birders, as many species make a pit stop at the lagoon on their migration. Each season brings a different set of birds to the region, which means the chance to see and hear new ones each visit, depending on the season.
There are resources for beginner-level birders that help them dive deeper into their new hobby -- and there's a short trail throughout the preserve to explore the grounds with an interactive smartphone app made to identify plants and animals while strolling.
