Little Tokyo
L.A.'s Little Tokyo neighborhood dates back to 1880. It is a major cultural and civic center for Japanese Americans living in Southern California because it's one of three Little Tokyos in the United States. This Downtown L.A. neighborhood encompasses roughly five city blocks and offers a variety of cultural attractions and eateries.
Visitors can check out the Japanese American Museum, which showcases the history and culture of the Japanese American experience by presenting and sharing a collection of authentic artifacts and exhibitions on site.
When it's time to grab a bite to eat, it's no surprise that Little Tokyo is also a fantastic place to order some tasty Japanese cuisine. Popular dining spots include Sushi Gen and MEN OH Tokushima Ramen, located in Honda Plaza.
Those who would like to taste authentic udon can check out Marugame Monzo on 1st Street, where the noodles are made right in front of the diners who are lucky enough to grab the best seats in the house at the window.
After dinner, visitors can enjoy late-night libations at Far Bar with its lively main bar area and dozens of craft beers on tap, alongside Asian-influenced cocktails and pub fare. Nearby, Wolf & Crane describes itself as "Little Tokyo's Neighborhood Bar" and offers a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and standout Japanese whisky options.
