Santa Ana Zoo
The Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park is a smaller scale sized zoo located in Orange County, focused on highlighting over 50 species of animals, as well as many species of plants from mainly the Central and South America regions. The zoo is affectionately known as “The Home of the 50 Monkeys.”
In fact, the zoo’s original founder, Joseph Prentice, requested at least 50 monkeys be kept on the premises at all times. This destination has been a local and visitor favorite in the area for over 70 years. The zoo offers a rain forest exhibit, the chance to see and learn about several rare and endangered species, the opportunity to explore a walk-through aviary, take a train ride, ride the “Conservation Carousel,” and visit the onsite educational amphitheater.
“It is fun to look at all the monkeys. My favorite are the Golden-headed Lion Tamarin. They are adorable and always very active.” Said Amber Moyers. “There is plenty of space to walk around, see and learn about new animals and get your steps in. It's a fun, family-friendly day in the sun. I really enjoy the Critters for Conservation where they have a show-and-tell on three different animals that are not on display in the park. My favorite is the parrot that knows a lot of fun tricks."
