We’re pleased to offer you a new way to stay informed with Metrolink Alerts. Get accurate, up-to-date information about your Metrolink trip in real-time. Subscribe to receive service alerts by text or email—tailored to your preferred train, station, or travel time.

How It Works

  3. Choose the days and times you want to receive alerts.
  4. Confirm your subscription preferences.
  5. You’re all set—alerts will be delivered directly to you.

All you need to get started is your train number(s). This is the 3-digit (weekdays) or 4-digit (weekends) numbers at the top of the schedule for each line. Tip: Don't confuse the train number with the departure time.

Subscription FAQs

Yes! You can subscribe to alerts for specific trains and stations. You’ll only get updates that matter to you.

To keep alerts as relevant and useful as possible, subscriptions are currently based on specific trains or stations, not entire lines. This helps prevent alert fatigue by ensuring you only receive updates that directly impact your ride.

You can find your train number by browsing our Schedules for your line. Simply click here to see our schedules or downloadable the PDF timetable.

Come back to this page to revisit your subscription settings and double-check your alert preferences. You can also update your selected trains, stations, days, or times regularly to ensure you’re only getting relevant updates.

To update your information, you’ll need to delete any existing subscriptions. Come back to this page and click the gear icon to delete any existing subscriptions. Then simply proceed through the subscription process with your new contact info. This will overwrite your previous information.

Come back to this page and click the gear icon to delete any existing subscriptions. If you delete all your subscriptions, you will no longer receive alerts.

Yes, you can edit your alerts any time.

  1. Come back to this subscription page.
  2. Find the subscription alert you want to edit and click the gear icon on the top right. Choose “Edit.”
  3. Under “Select Trains”, click the “X” next to any train number you wish to delete. Use the field above to type in any new train numbers you wish to add to your alert subscription.
  4. Under “Select Stations”, click the “X” next to any station you wish to delete. Use the field above to type in any new stations you wish to add to your alert subscription.
  5. Click “Continue.”
  6. Under “Create a Schedule”, confirm these are still the days of the week relevant to you. If so, click “Continue.”
  7. Under “Select Times”, confirm if these are still relevant and click “Continue”.
  8. Click “Save Subscription.”

Yes. By returning to this page, you can toggle the Active/Paused button to pause your alerts. When you are ready to reactivate your subscriptions, simply return to this page.

Yes, if your train is eligible for alternate transportation during a disruption, that information, including Uber voucher access, will be included in your alerts when applicable.

Currently, Metrolink and Amtrak Pacific Surfliner passenger rail service south of Laguna Niguel - Mission Viejo traveling through San Clemente will be suspended to allow for crews to safely conduct emergency construction aimed at stabilizing sections of track at immediate risk from landslides and coastal erosion. This corridor will potentially reopen in mid-June.

Effective July 1, we will no longer post service alerts on social media. To stay informed about delays, cancellations, and service changes, please subscribe to Metrolink Alerts via email or text at metrolinktrains.com/subscribe. 

Metrolink alerts are free. Standard text or data rates from your carrier may apply if you choose SMS alerts.

No. The Train Tracker shows live locations. Alerts are proactive: we notify you directly if your train is late, canceled, or affected.

Only when there’s something you need to know, like a delay, cancellation, or schedule change that affects your selected trains or times.

Yes! You can subscribe using their train information and your contact details or manually forward alerts to them.

The alerts come directly from Metrolink using a secure platform. Your data is never sold or shared.

You’ll only receive alerts when something changes for your selected train or station. If you're unsure, try resubscribing or checking your spam folder.

We do our best to send timely alerts, and while we work hard to provide timely and accurate alerts, no system can guarantee 100% real-time coverage due to factors like rapid operational changes or technological outages. We recommend using alerts as one of several tools to stay informed, and arriving early when possible, especially during disruptions. We're continually improving our alert and tracking systems to better support your commute.
