New Arrow Service

In partnership with SBCTA, Metrolink is proud to offer our new Metrolink Arrow service. Metrolink riders in the Inland Empire can use the new Arrow passenger rail service to travel between the cities of San Bernardino and Redlands. The Arrow service adds four train stations in the two cities and introduces brand new Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) trains to Metrolink’s cleaner-operating fleet.

Traveling on Arrow trains is a breath of fresh air, literally! The trains are brand new, with a sleek, colorful, and modern design. Called Diesel Multiple Units, or DMUs, they are powered by smaller, lower-emission diesel engines for a quieter and more energy-efficient ride.

Arrow trains feature several amenities:
  • Capacity for 120 standing passengers
  • Space for up to eight wheelchair passengers
  • USB chargers at most seats
  • Storage hooks for up to 12 bicycles
  • Level boarding at the station platforms

How to Ride the Arrow Train

Fares, Tickets and Passes

Purchasing tickets for the Metrolink Arrow service is no different than purchasing other Metrolink tickets. All Metrolink ticket and pass types are available for travel on the Metrolink Arrow service. You may buy tickets on the Metrolink mobile app, from station ticket machines, and at select locations depending on the terms and conditions of your ticket or pass.

Transit Connections

To expand your travel options, Metrolink Arrow trains connect to several local transit providers at the San Bernardino – Downtown Station, including Omnitrans, Riverside Transit Agency, Mountain Area Regional Transit, and Victor Valley Transit Authority Commuter Express.

Omnitrans also connects with Arrow trains at the Redlands-Downtown Station.

Learn more about Metrolink’s transit connections here or on the station pages of our website.

Service Updates

Staying informed about delays or disruptions on your train is easy. Metrolink provides notifications via Twitter and on our Train Status web page.

To receive notifications for Metrolink Arrow service, we recommend you follow both @MetrolinkArrow and @MetrolinkSB. This will ensure all segments of your travel are covered by our notification system, including the daily Express train between the Redlands – Downtown Station and L.A. Union Station. (Please note that on our Train Status web page, notifications for the Metrolink Arrow service are displayed under the San Bernardino Line.)

Rail Safety

Metrolink Arrow service will have up to 42 trains operating along its nine-mile corridor each day. Because this area has not had passenger trains in many years, we want drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists to understand the importance of being safe around railroad tracks. Please visit our Rail Safety web page for life-saving tips and information.

Quiet Zones

To minimize noise from the sounding of horns at crossings, the Metrolink Arrow service corridor has been approved as a Quiet Zone by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). A Quiet Zone is a section of track at which locomotive horns are exempt from routinely sounding when trains approach crossings, except in emergency situations. Learn more about Quiet Zones.
