Metrolink offers all students with a valid student ID a 50% discount on train tickets and passes. Whether commuting to class, heading to work, or exploring Southern California, it's easier and more affordable than ever to ride Metrolink as a student.

Students with a valid student ID save 50% on every ticket (except the LA Zone Day Pass). The discount is available on ticket machines at Metrolink stations and on the Metrolink mobile app as the Student/Youth discount.

If you have a California EBT card, you can qualify for an additional 50% off your student rate through the Mobility-4-All program at the ticket machines only.

 

The Student/Youth discount is available to:

  • Students of any age with a valid student ID from an accredited school, college, or university. It does not apply to school staff or faculty, unless they are also students.
  • Youth riders ages 17 and under (no student ID required for youth fare).

You can purchase Student/Youth discounted tickets:

  • In the Metrolink Mobile App (select “Student/Youth” fare type), 
  • At a Metrolink ticket machine (choose “Student/Youth” fare type) located at every station, or
  • At the Metrolink ticket window at L.A. Union Station

You must carry a valid student ID to present to Metrolink personnel upon request.

 

Through Metrolink’s Mobility-4-All program, with a valid California EBT card at station ticket machines (currently, a discount is not available on the mobile app), you can stack an additional 50% discount on top of the Student/Youth discounted rate.

  1. At the ticket machine, select Student/Youth discounted fare
  2. Use your CA EBT card to apply the additional discount
  3. Once validated, the extra 50% discount will apply automatically to your total

 

Students from select schools may ride Arrow service trains for free between Downtown San Bernardino and the University of Redlands. The select schools include:

  • Cal State San Bernardino
  • San Bernardino Valley College
  • Crafton Hills College
  • University of Redlands

 

Yes. Both your valid ticket and your student ID must be presented upon request to Metrolink personnel when asked to present fare.

 

Yes. The 50% discount applies to all Metrolink fares, including one-way tickets, single-day, multi-day passes, and monthly passes.

 

Yes. All Metrolink tickets include free transfers to most local connecting transit systems, including Metro buses and trains, within the same day. Learn more about Transit Connections.
