Lincoln Memorial Shrine
Even though President Lincoln himself never technically set foot in California, The Lincoln Memorial Shrine at the A K Smiley Public Library in Redlands is the only museum and archives dedicated to the study of Abraham Lincoln and the American Civil War west of the Mississippi River.
Here, visitors can explore a thoroughly extensive collection of manuscripts, diaries, images and artifacts carefully maintained by the Special Collections Division of Smiley Library.
Acting as both a museum and memorial, this destination aims to educate visitors in understanding President Abraham Lincoln and the American Civil War and the impacts it had on generations of Americans.
The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays, from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. and closed on Mondays and major holidays.
